Daniel ShiExecutive Co-Director of MMCAs a first-year emergency medicine resident in Vancouver, I'm passionate about improving accessibility to a career in medicine. My goal is to ensure that every premed has the resources to succeed in the application process, which led to my involvement with the CASPer and interview workshops. As director, I aim for MMC to become a well-known resource for applicants across the country.

Nardin KirolosExecutive Co-Director of MMCHi everyone! Welcome to the MMC! My name is Nardin Kirolos and I am one of the Co-directors of the MMC. I am a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa medical school and am starting my pediatric training at the University of Toronto! Having set my eyes on medical school early on in my studies, I know the challenges that come with this pursuit and the tremendous help that it can be to have mentors supporting you along this path. In recognizing that not everyone has these mentors in their networks, the MMC is here to connect you with medical students, residents and physicians from across the country to help support you along every step of this journey. Mentorship has always been such a passion of mine because I’ve experienced firsthand the positive impact that it can have on your life. The MMC is all about fostering a supportive environment where mentors can use their experiences to help others on this path. Regardless of what your path has been that has led you to us, we’re happy to have you in our community and hope to support you in whatever way we can!

As part of my role, i am always open to hearing from mentors. From ideas and praise to complaints, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Nick TaylorAssociate Director of University Outreach
Hi everyone! My name is Nick - I'm an R1 in Family Medicine in Edmonton and am one of the Directors of University Outreach. I'm originally from Calgary but lived much of my life in Europe, the Middle East, and the US. I enjoy outdoor activities (bonus points if they have inherently risky elements like rock climbing, scuba diving, or scrambling) and have a 3 year old pup named Kala who accompanies me on any of my camping adventures. I'm happy to be here to help you all get to where you want to be - Med School! It's a big goal, but with the right support crew, it's doable, and trust me - it is VERY worth it.
Be well! |
Davy LauAssociate Director of Mentor Management
My name's Davy and I'm a 3rd year medical student from Vancouver! I oversee and moderate the community, working to ensure that each and every member is welcomed, feels accepted, and, similarly, that every one of your questions is answered by mentors with relevant experiences! I ensure that all our channels are running smoothly and address any tech difficulties people have. Prior to starting medical school at UBC, I spent 3 years studying Cellular and Physiological Sciences, also at UBC. Some of my activities include being a part of my school's Political Advocacy Committee, where medical students collaborate to advocate for public health issues. This gave me the opportunity to talk on CBC Radio and with politicians in Ottawa about the importance of universal access to contraception! I'm also a student leader with Operation Smile, a non-profit that does cleft lip/palate surgery in developing countries. Outside of school, I like to play piano, read my collection of Nancy Drew books, and watch gymnastics and figure skating! |

I became involved with the MMC in an effort to provide support and guidance to applicants earlier on in their journey. Outside of academia, I love to run, bike, cook, and eat. I live in Edmonton with my wife and 105 pound bernedoodle named Moose.

Selina ShiDirector of Social MediaI’m Selina and the director of social media. I’m currently finishing up my first year of medical school at McMaster. I did not have any personal connections to the medicine and felt quite lost when applying to medical school. After joining MMC initially as a mentee, I found many MMC events to be very helpful, such as tips for CASPER or mock interviews, and I wanted to give back to the pre-med community and become a mentor and later director. I love art and graphic design and want to connect any student on their medical journey to the resources they need! Medicine is a long journey, and it’s incredible to walk through the path together as we progress through the different stages!
